Numana

Ancona, Italy

Also known as “the Lady of the Conero”, Numana is a pretty coastal town of Marche – FEE Blue Flag since 2000 – characterized by an ancient history, its natural harbor was already in use more than 2,500 years ago by the Piceni, then by the Greeks and then by Romans.

Numana is inserted in the Regional Park of Conero as it is situated at the southern foot of the homonymous mountain, a rocky outcrop about 600 meters high that degrades quickly in the Adriatic Sea. Here you can find bays and coves of white pebbles, often accessible only by sea, dominated by pine trees, typical Mediterranean vegetation.
The historic center of the town (Numana Alta), where narrow and steep streets  separe the old fishermen’s houses, is located on a cliff overlooking the sea, on the border with Sirolo; it includes two natural bays, the beach of the Friars and the Spiaggiola. From the turistic port – moving to south – starts Numana Bassa, which collects gravel beach until Marcelli and arrives to the river Musone.
