Michelangelo is one of the most famous artists in the world. He was a master of the Renaissance, he painted the Sistine Chapel in Roma, but he always thought of himself only as a sculptor... In fact, some of his masterpieces are statues, like the famous David, in Florence and The "Pietà " in Rome. This tour will help you to discover some masterpieces and to better understand how they were created.
Day1: Arrival-Florence
Arrive in Florence and visit of the Museo del Bargello that houses some beautiful works by Michelangelo. Later, visit of the Gallerie dell'Accademia to admire the famous statue of the "David", sculpted by Michelangelo. Skip the line service and guided tour included.
Dinner at a typical restaurant and overnight at the hotel
Day 2: Carrara
Transfer to Carrara by private bus. Visit of a marble cave to see where Michelangelo used to go to chose the blocks of marble for his statues.
Lunch at a typical restaurant where it will be possible to taste specialties of this area like the famous "lardo di Colonnata".
In the afternoon, visit of the village of Carrara, where Michelangelo was born. It will also be possible to see his house, just behind the cathedral. In the evening transfer to the hotel in Florence and overnight
Day 3: Florence
Florence: visit of the Loggia Dei Lanzi and Piazza Della Signoria, to see how the art of Michelangelo was followed and translated by lot of sculptors.
Lunch and free afternoon.

Famous for their white marble, these caves in the Apua Mountains serve as studios of stone sculpting and bronze art, where famous artists and sculptors from all over the world come to work.
From the city of Carrara, follow the signs to the "cave" until you reach the Fantiscritti caves. There is a small museum there worth seeing. The restaurant, Ristorante il Poggio, has an annex where you can sign up for the tour if you've come in the off season without a reservation.
